I'm sorry I'm too broke to buy you a bottle of wine

In 10 days my boyfriend and I will be celebrating our 2 and a half year anniversary, now he may have money, but I sure don't. So I've been thinking about making him some wine for a present.

Things you will need:
Yeast (one package)- you really should use champagne or wine yeast, you can use bread yeast, it just won't taste very good. Both cost about $0.50

2 cans of grape juice concentrate
2 cups of sugar
some water (About 2/3 of a gallon)
1 gallon jug (p
lastic works) Think the big jugs you buy water or fake juice in.
Pot to boil water in
A funnel, to pour things into the jug with
A condom or balloon

Here are the directions:
1-make sure everything you are using is VERY VERY clean, otherwise you will get bacteria in your wine.
2-Let water come to a boil for half an hour. And make sure your concentrate is room temperature
3- Pour the concentrate into the jug
4- While the
water is still boiling add your sugar and stir until dissolved
5-Activate the yeast (your packet should have instructions on it)
6-Let the sugar water cool and then pour it into the jug until it is about 2/3 of the way full (this should use all your sugar water)
7-Add the yeast, again make sure everything is cool first!
8- Place baloon or condom on top of the jug secure it with a rubber band or hair tie.
9- Leave it alone for about 10-14 days and the baloon should inflate, and the mixture should go from cloudy to clear. (If neither of these things happen, your equipment probably wasn't clean enough, boil it then try again from step 1)
10- If these things do happen move it from your jug into another container or into some old wine bottles you have, leaving all the shit at the bottom in the old jug, and enjoy.

Let me know if you make it and how it goes!
(Make and drink at your own risk, this is some hobo wine lol)

  1. I've done this one before, at one point I had a straight up balloon farm under my desk. The best way to transfer it at the end is with a turkey baster, and you'll probably want to filter it as well. Coffee filters work.

If you want it to have a bit more 'kick' to it, stick your finished wine in the freezer for a while. The alcohol won't freeze, but everything else will.
